Great Blue Heron

Bow Lake Dam
Strafford, New Hampshire
This bird was predictably found at this sight every time I went for several
weeks. At the base of the dam it often stood there so still, not to be
noticed unless it moved, blending in with its background and the fast
flowing water of the dam. |
Great Blue Heron

The same bird as the previous photo, with one of the many bass it caught day
after day. |

Savannah Sparrow

Concord, New Hampshire Public Gardens.
This is a large gardening area where the town rents plots for individuals
to garden in. With all different people planting this area, it draws a
wonderful selection of birds, especially for the fall harvest when birds are
passing through on their migration. |
Belted Kingfisher

In Concord, New Hampshire there is a small pond between Wal-Mart and The
Gateway Mall. The pond draws a variety of ducks, geese, occasional egret,
kingfishers, swallows, Great Blue Herons, Green Herons, blackbirds and other
species as well as some hunting hawks. This kingfisher was being dive bombed
by tree swallows when I took this photo. |

Tornado Victums

Who would ever have thought there would be a tornado in Northwood, New
Hampshire? The July 24th tornado wiped out miles and miles of land and
buildings as it cut its path across several towns. Route 4 was closed down
for about a week, if I remember correctly. I just happened to pick the right
time to see how far I could get on the Deerfield end of Rt. 107 this
evening, when they were lining cars up to let them tour through the area for
the first time. These crows, I think an adult and a young, were among the
displaced, sitting in a remaining tree, in the rubble across from Northwood
Lake. |

Cedar Waxwings

Concord, New Hampshire
Winter months were good for finding flocks of waxwings around the city on
crab apple trees and ornamental pear trees which have winter berries for
them to eat. You sometimes see them on the ground acting drunk, after
gorging on over ripened berries. |

one of my regular shooting spots.
A Very nice lady from another state. |
Chipper

A nice little adopted dog that I took care of for a while, while a neighbor
was hospitalized. Chipper has since passed away. |
Surfing The New Hampshire Sea Coast

NH has less than 20 miles of sea coast,
but there are a few areas along the way that
the surfers hit as soon as the surfs up. |
Canada Geese

Several families usually nest behind Wal-Mart each year in Epping, New
Hampshire. |

Nesting over a busy road in Newmarket, New Hampshire? We ended up observing
2+ pairs this year in this town. A rare occurrence to see these birds in the
state. |

Pine Grosbeak

This is a winter bird for us, following the food source south in the winter
in small flocks of 6, 8, maybe 10 or more, we do not see them often. They
certainly are a joy to watch. This is a male. |
Barred Owl

We came across this owl just sitting there in the, abandoned back roads of
Pease Air Base. |

Cass Dam

Epsom, New Hampshire.
Just off of Rt. 4, most people
don't know this dam is here. |
Ice Shack In The Fog

This is a very old ice shack on private property. It can be seen from the
rest area above the Cass Dam in Epsom, New Hampshire and makes for some nice
landscape shots. Early morning fog is often seen rising in front of it in
the fall.. |
