My name is Debbie Stahre (pronounced as "star")
My
early years were spent learning about nature, growing up with animals always
around me, chickens, goats, pig, cats, dogs, horses....I often walked the
brook that babbled along behind our house, discovering Mother Nature's
magnificent little creatures. School was boring until I switched to an
agricultural school.
The
first camera I remember using was a Brownie. I had many cheap cameras
through my childhood years and with the progression of Poloroids, my family
went through several models. Then I was given a little better camera when I
was in my late teens. Some how, all those early cameras just never quite
made the grade for me though.....
In
my thirties, I discovered Sony cameras with floppy disks and bought my first
digital camera. I carried around dozens of floppy disks as I photographed
all the creatures, insects and nature shots that caught my eye. Although
this camera was a giant step in the right direction, it wasn't getting me
the wildlife shots that I so craved to get. It wasn't too long before I
moved up to a Minolta and then a Nikon and finally to my first Canon DSLR.
Still not satisfied with my action shots of animals, I upgraded to a better
lens and that is when I finally was seeing the results I had craved since I
was a child. Back and forth between Canon and Nikon several times, I now use
a Canon 7D.
My
photography is mostly of pets, nature and wildlife taken in the New England
states of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. My photos have won awards
and have been published in several publications.
